Find a List of Meals and Sites Here MST and MCOE Partner with Districts to Deploy WiFi Bus Stops New routes added! As schools across Monterey County have shut their doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, thousands of students are now adjusting to distance learning. However, this transition can pose great difficulty for many families who may not have access to internet connectivity. That's why MCOE has launched its Digital Equity Team (DEQ) to ensure every student in Monterey County has the ability to participate in high quality online distance learning by providing access to the devices and connectivity needed for success. Securing connectivity in the home is a long-term solution, but for the short-term, MCOE and several districts in the county are proud to join with Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) to deploy MST buses equipped with WiFi to neighborhoods where the districts have identified the highest needs for internet access. Find the list of dates, times and locations for WiFi Bus Stops here Digital Equity Team Makes Progress in Closing the Digital Divide At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, MCOE formed a Digital Equity (DEQ) Task Force to address increased technology needs placed upon students to implement and continue distance learning. The mission of DEQ is to, “Ensure every student in Monterey County has the ability to participate in high quality online distance learning by providing access to the devices and connectivity needed for success.” After only a few short weeks, MCOE is thrilled to share the progress made in closing the digital divide in two categories: access to devices (laptops, computers, tablets, etc.); and connection to the internet.
